Officials with the City of Fredericksburg, the Virginia Railway Express and more gathered Tuesday morning to celebrate the recent improvements to Fredericksburg’s train station.

The race starts at 6 a.m. Sunday, May 19.

Fredericksburg’s Marine Corps Historic Half has been named the best half marathon in Virginia.

The City of Fredericksburg’s general property re-assessment is nearing completion. The City’s assessor has completed the process of assigning values for each City property, and notices to property owners have been prepared. Notices are being mailed this week. The new assessments will be effective as of July 1st, 2024.

Fredericksburg City Council unanimously approved a plan Tuesday night for the local Main Street organization to co-locate with the Visitor Center on the first floor of the Executive Plaza at 601 Caroline Street.

Construction work to build the new Visitor Center on the first floor of the Executive Plaza in Downtown Fredericksburg (601 Caroline Street) is under way, and crews are preparing to upgrade the building’s outside front entrance.

With the completion of the major construction sites at Riverfront Park and William Square, final parking signage is planned to be installed by the City of Fredericksburg in these two areas by the end of May 2024.
