Team unveils plans for history pavilion
One of the many cool planned features at the ballpark will be the 80-foot-wide by 12-foot-high “FredNats History Pavilion” on the back of the centerfield wall in the outfield concourse. The FredNats are partnering on the feature with the Fredericksburg Area Museum, Dovetail Cultural Resource Group and Germanna Community College. Representatives of those entities announced the plans at a Wednesday event at the Fredericksburg Expo & Conference Center, which is next to the stadium.
Fredericksburg’s history with professional baseball dates back more than 150 years to the Civil War era. Team part-owner Seth Silber said it was important to the FredNats to tie together that rich history at the new ballpark. The Fredericksburg Area Museum will also soon be opening an exhibit around that history at its downtown location at 907 Princess Anne St.
