Construction work on a mixed-use project directly across from the City of Fredericksburg’s new Riverfront Park is expected to start soon.

Final plans are being made for the start of the Hanover House project at the corner of Hanover and Sophia streets in downtown Fredericksburg.

The project, which is being developed by Tommy Mitchell, will include a 28,566-square-foot, four-level building being constructed on a 0.45-acre vacant property across from Riverfront Park.

Hanover House will include 24 multi-family units, four of which will be affordable to those earning 50 percent of the area median income. There will be three studio apartments with one bathroom, 14 one-bedroom apartments with one bathroom, and seven two-bedroom units with two bathrooms.

There is also a 2,755-square-foot ground-level commercial space for lease at the corner of Sophia and Hanover streets that includes an outdoor patio, and 28 new ground-floor parking spaces.
