City Council, EDA approve Letter of Intent with Hylton Venture

The LOI sets out a road map for an agreement that could lead to the private construction of a Gateway Boulevard extension through the strategically located Hylton property on the east side of Interstate 95. 
New Downtown Ice Cream Shop and Coffee Roaster
Freehling finds one location for both ice cream and coffee

In this week's episode of "Freehling Finds," Bill talks with Ed Wright and Brianna Lopez about the recent opening of the Abner B's Ice Cream and X-Quizit Coffee Roasters shop at 821 Caroline St. in downtown Fredericksburg.     

Amruta Inc. receives $50,000 award

The Fredericksburg data analytics consulting and software company in Eagle Village is one of 41 recipients of Commonwealth Research Commercialization Fund awards.

City Council votes to move slave auction block to museum

City Council voted 6-1 Tuesday to have it relocated from the corner of William and Charles streets to the nearby Fredericksburg Area Museum.

2019 Business Appreciation Winner

The Department of Economic Development & Tourism honored River Rock Outfitter during Business Appreciation month. The 2019 theme is inspired by "Businesses who give Back!" River Rock Outfitter, owned by Keith and April Peterson, takes stewardship seriously. They initiate and participate in many fundraisers and clean-ups of the Rappahannock River and volunteer their time to Fredericksburg VA Main Street. We thank River Rock Outfitter for its investment in our City and giving back to our community!

City reviewing site plan for One Hanover

One Hanover will be located at the corner of Hanover Street and Sophia Street and is being developed by Thomas A. Mitchell.  The mixed-use site will contain 24 upper-story dwelling units, approximately 15,000 square feet of commercial space, and related infrastructure.

Mary Washington Hospital achieves 'Magnet'  recognition again

The Fredericksburg hospital attained Magnet recognition again in May 2019, a testament to its continued dedication to high-quality nursing practices. The American Nurses Credentialing Center's Magnet Recognition ProgramĀ® distinguishes healthcare organizations that meet rigorous standards for nursing excellence. This credential is the highest national honor for professional nursing practice.

Fredericksburg Badges for Baseball day camp returns

The City's First Responders are sponsoring Badges for Baseball again this summer. Don't let the name of the event fool you. There is no need to have any previous baseball experience nor is there any need to bring any equipment. Badges for Baseball is an opportunity for the youth of Fredericksburg to have fun with members of the Fredericksburg Fire Department, Police Department and Sheriff's Office during a week of fun-filled adventures.

Roundabout planned for Lafayette Blvd.
 
The developer of the mixed-use Telegraph Hill project along Lafayette Boulevard is required to both build the roundabout and widen the stretch of Lafayette to four lanes from the Blue and Gray intersection up the hill to St. Paul Street.

  • Ferguson renewed its lease of 2,400 square feet at 311 Central Road
  • Central Rappahannock Regional Library leased 1,680 square feet at 1616 Princess Anne St.
  • Nail Art renewed its lease of 1,375 square feet in Central Park Marketplace at 3124 Cowan Blvd.
  • Lee's Cleaners renewed its lease of 1,276 square feet in Eagle Village at 1245 Jefferson Davis Hwy.

Fredanthropist program featured on Town Talk

Ted Schubel, host of Town Talk, interviewed EDT's Bill Freehling and Clint Manning this week on the Fredanthropist program. This program seeks sponsorships from businesses and individuals to assist with funding "wants" not in the City Council's budget. This year, the Fredanthropists are helping build the roller-hockey rink near the Dixon Park pool.
