City first to join Virginia's 'smart communities' network
Fredericksburg officials are preparing the first phase of a data analytics project, using help from the state government and other partners as it becomes the first city to join a statewide "smart communities" program.
Demolition and archaeological work have recently occurred at the 24-unit mixed-use project at the corner of Hanover and Sophia streets across from Riverfront Park. Tommy Mitchell is the property owner.

Leadership Fredericksburg will graduate its 12th class this month. The Fredericksburg Regional Chamber of Commerce will have then supported 323 professionals over 12 years as they became official Leadership Fredericksburg alumni.
Renovation work continues on Frederick Street project
Construction work is continuing on the former coffee warehouse at the Lofts at Frederick Street project. The project developers are also now taking reservations for condos at the planned 17-unit new complex to be built next to the coffee warehouse.

SlideFXBG returning in August
Last year's wildly successful and popular event, SlideFXBG, will be back in town on August 31st -- the Saturday of Labor Day weekend. This year's event will be held on William Street, with the start of the slide being set up a few feet below College Avenue and ending at Sunken Road.
