Artists to take to the streets in downtown Fredericksburg

Downtown Fredericksburg will be buzzing with activity Saturday as local artists create beautiful works of art as the public watches. Art Attack is one of many local events planned in the next week, a list that also includes a Cole Swindell concert and an evening paddle on the Rappahannock River. See below for a full calendar. 

City taking steps to improve downtown parking

The City of Fredericksburg has started to implement the recommendations of Walker Parking Consulting.

Downtown mural beginning to take shape

Bill Harris and Sophia Constantine have made a good deal of progress on their beautiful new mural on the side of the Sammy T's building at the corner of Caroline and Hanover streets in downtown Fredericksburg. This interesting interview with Harris describes the creative process that leads to the mural getting completed. The Fredericksburg EDA provided grant funding for the project.
Freehling finds new downtown activity

In the latest edition of "Freehling Finds," Bill walks around downtown Fredericksburg to discover all the progress that has occurred on various projects in the past couple of weeks.

Networking event planned at UMW

The UMW College of Business and Fredericksburg Regional Alliance are teaming up to present a "speed networking" event the evening of September 27 on campus. The event will allow UMW students to network with local alumni and business professionals to hone their interview skills and develop new connections.

Burger Bach coming to Liberty Place

Burger Bach plans to open one of its "New Zealand Inspired Gastro Pubs" at Liberty Place in downtown Fredericksburg. The Liberty Place development team announced the news at Wednesday's Economic Development breakfast at the Courtyard by Marriott downtown.
Wegmans adds home delivery service

Wegmans in Fredericksburg is getting ready to launch a new home delivery service next week in partnership with Instacart.

New William Street restaurant to be named 'The Confident Rabbit'

Local chef Jacqueline Hartman plans to open a French restaurant named "The Confident Rabbit" in the space formerly occupied by Bistro Bethem in downtown Fredericksburg.

Renovation nearly complete at Walker-Grant Center

Moseley Architects is putting the finishing touches on a $12.5 million renovation at the Fredericksburg schools' facility at 210 Ferdinand St. The building houses not only the Fredericksburg Regional Head Start program, but also the city's Early Childhood Special Education classes and school administration offices. A dedication and open house will be held Oct. 15.

Fredericksburg attractions highlighted in new video

New rides and attractions at Funland

More than $1 million has gone into renovating the Central Park indoor/outdoor family fun center, which has gotten a significant facelift in addition to new rides, arcade games and other attractions over the past 18 months. An event was recently held to unveil and promote the changes.

Expansion of library parking lot planned 

More public parking is coming to downtown Fredericksburg. Two buildings at the back of the Central Rappahannock Regional Library headquarters will be torn down soon, allowing the size of the parking lot to be nearly doubled.

Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge of Virginia books conference in Fredericksburg

The Fredericksburg Department of Economic Development and Tourism is pleased to announce that the Most Worshipful Prince Hall Grand Lodge of Virginia has booked its 144th Annual Communication in September 2019 at the Fredericksburg Expo and Conference Center. This group of Free Masons is expected to bring in over 1,000 local room nights. Economic impact is estimated at $277,565. 
 
It's not too early to start thinking about Christmas

Downtown Fredericksburg's annual Christmas Parade will be held December 2 this year, with a theme of "The Magic of Christmas." Registrations will be accepted until October 10 or until the event fills, and just 100 spaces are available.
