224 acres at Celebrate Virginia South scheduled for auction

Twenty parcels totaling 224 acres in the Celebrate Virginia South commercial development are scheduled to be auctioned May 31 in City Hall to satisfy delinquent Fredericksburg taxes and Community Development Authority (CDA) special tax assessments. The 20 parcels range in size from a quarter-acre to 55 acres.  
City rolls out new economic development website

We are proud today to debut our new economic development website (FredericksburgVA.com). Next week we will roll out a companion blog that will feature business news, features and statistics.
Roller-hockey rink could be coming to Dixon Park

The City of Fredericksburg is working with the Washington Capitals on plans for a new roller-hockey rink behind the Dixon Park pool. A Capitals' representative briefed City Council on the plans Tuesday (see photo to the right).
ILM Corporation moves to Cowan Crossing office building

Fredericksburg-based ILM Corp. moved Friday to its new 10,000-square-foot office in the nearly completed Cowan Crossing mixed-use development. About 5,000 square feet of space is still available on the first floor of the building at 1551 Jefferson Davis Highway; leasing brokers Heather Hagerman and Donny Self of Coldwell Banker Commercial Elite are focusing on medical office users for the remaining space. ILM moved to its new digs from 600 Lafayette Blvd., where defense contractor Tate Inc. recently leased about two-thirds of the space; Self and Hagerman are seeking to fill the rest.

City added 1,124 jobs during Q3

Average employment in Fredericksburg rose by 4.7 percent in the third quarter of 2017, according to recently released Virginia Employment Commission (VEC) data. The City of Fredericksburg picked up 1,124 jobs during the third quarter compared with that three-month period in 2016. There were an average of 25,071 jobs in the City in the third quarter, the highest quarterly tally in nearly five years. The data are from the VEC's Quarterly Census of Employment and Wages.
Sophia Street project under review

The City is currently reviewing plans for the Riverview on Sophia Street, a 16-unit residential project planned by Tradition Homes behind Fredericksburg Square in downtown Fredericksburg.

Fredericksburg Tours approved
 
Fredericksburg City Council on Tuesday took the first of two votes to approve a franchise agreement with Fredericksburg Tours LLC, which will offer downtown walking tours that highlight the rich history of our City. City Council also renewed Trolley Tours of Fredericksburg's franchise agreement.
