$25,000 grant to help explore Renwick re-uses

The City of Fredericksburg and Fredericksburg VA Main Street Inc. have received a $25,000 grant to explore future re-uses of the former Renwick courthouse complex in downtown Fredericksburg.

Former gas station becoming a restaurant
 
Jackie Payne is turning the former Pure Gas Station at 1600 Princess Anne Street into a restaurant that looks like an old gas station with an addition. 

Congratulations to River Rock Outfitter!

River Rock Outfitter has been named Best Up-and-Coming Outdoor Business and Best Outdoor Shop in the January issue of Blue Ridge Outdoors Magazine. Fredericksburg Economic Development and Tourism placed the ad to the right in the January issue of Blue Ridge Outdoors to congratulate River Rock and promote Fredericksburg as a great outdoor destination.

Police memorial planned in Fredericksburg

The Fredericksburg Police Department wants to mark the 10-year anniversary of the shooting death of Officer Todd Allen Bahr by erecting a memorial to honor all four city officers who have been killed in the line of duty.

Fredericksburg EDA pledges support of program

The Fredericksburg EDA and King George County have agreed to commit $7,500 in cash and $3,000 worth of marketing assistance to secure a grant from Go Virginia to offer training in cybersecurity.

Catholic Student Center seeking special-use permit

The Catholic Diocese of Arlington wants to build a surface-parking lot at 1616 College Avenue to support the adjacent Catholic Student Center. The Fredericksburg Planning Commission will hold a public hearing on the matter Wednesday.

Four public hearings are scheduled in front of Fredericksburg's Architectural Review Board on Monday.

The Caroline Street bath boutique formerly known as Ladyburg is ringing in the new year with a new name: Sugar + Spruce.

Library director receives Chamber award

Central Rappahannock Regional Library Director Martha Hutzel recently received the Fredericksburg Regional Chamber of Commerce's 2017 Laurie A. Wideman Enterprising Woman's Award. Congratulations to Martha!

Special refuse collection including Christmas trees scheduled

All refuse and trees must be placed at the curb no later than 7:30 a.m. Monday. Subscription to the City's regular trash service is not required for this special collection. City crews will make these special collections next week.
