Archaeological work planned on George Street

The City of Fredericksburg and Dovetail Cultural Resource Group next week will begin archaeological work to explore the tunnel under George Street at Caroline Street. The sidewalk will be closed, but Fredericksburg Cupcake will remain open!

Improvements made to FAM garden

The William Street entrance to the Fredericksburg Area Museum now includes attractive new landscaping and a brick walkway using the dedication bricks from outside FAM's former home. The Frejus Sister City plaque was moved to the area next to the Visitor Center. The City of Fredericksburg, FAM, Tree Fredericksburg and Carolyn Helfrich Inc. worked together on the garden project. To the right is a taste, and go check it out for yourself!
City reviewing Royal Farms site plan

A Royal Farms gas station with a convenience store is planned at 2216 Plank Road. Older Gulf and BP gas stations currently on the site will be demolished for the project.

City reviewing Eye Care center

The City is reviewing a major site plan for the 7,160-square-foot CVAS Premier Eye Care optometry office at 2101 Carl D. Silver Parkway (near the Sheetz in Celebrate Virginia South). Dr. Angela Tsai is the owner.

This week's edition of "Freehling Finds" takes a look inside the former Embrey Power Station in the Mill District.

First vote taken on C-PACE ordinance

City Council on Tuesday took the first of two required votes to enact a green-energy financing program called Commercial Property Assessed Clean Energy. The final vote could come at Council's November 13 meeting and make Fredericksburg the second locality in Virginia with a C-PACE program.

Meeting held on stadium project

City Council held a special meeting Tuesday on the proposed multi-purpose stadium in Celebrate Virginia South. Many stadium-related matters will be on Council's November 13 agenda.  

City reviewing Hylton grading plan

The City of Fredericksburg is reviewing an early-grading plan to facilitate the future development of the Hylton property, a strategic location that includes 90 acres just to the east of Interstate 95 at Exit 130.

Tax credit workshop planned

Fredericksburg VA Main Street Inc. will host a workshop Saturday on how best to use the historic tax credit program to renovate older buildings.
