Free shuttle service expands

Based on customer feedback and route times, the downtown trolley that runs Friday and Saturday evenings now stops at two additional places along Sophia Street as well as at the corner of Hunter and Princess Anne streets (which just so happens to be where Carl's Frozen Custard is located).

Soccer tournament returning to region

More than 15,000 participants and family members are expected to be in the region June 28-July 3 for the 2018 U.S. Youth Soccer Region Championships. The event will be at Embrey Mill in Stafford and the VYSA Soccer Fields in Spotsylvania, but many attendees will be staying in and visiting Fredericksburg. The event was held in the region last year as well, and large crowds were reported at area restaurants and stores.

UMW dean honored

New mural going up along Sophia Street 

Well-known local artist Bill Harris is painting a mural along Sophia Street near the corner of William Street. This will be featured in an upcoming edition of "Freehling Finds." A sneak peek is to the right. Harris has worked on several additional local murals, most recently with Sophia Constantine on the one on the side of the Sammy T's building at Caroline and Hanover streets.
