Here's what's coming up
Parking promotion begins this weekend

A holiday-parking promotion will turn all downtown two-hour parking spaces into four-hour parking spaces beginning Saturday for Holiday Open House Weekend and the start of Window Wonderland. Another reminder: We have a Level 2 Electric Vehicle charging station in the Sophia Street Parking Garage (which is free for three hours).
American Canoe Association will train Olympic hopefuls

A national association based in Fredericksburg is now responsible for training and nominating canoeists and kayakers for the United States Olympic and Paralympic teams.

Downtown scarecrow winners announced

The winners of the recent downtown Scarecrowfest have been announced.  Check out the Downtown Fredericksburg Facebook page for details.

Hurkamp Park gets safety upgrade

Three large boulders have been placed at the Hurkamp Park entrance closest to the Rescue Squad driveway to prevent vehicles from driving into the park -- which has become the home of more events and a booming farmers market. (And the LOVE sign at Hurkamp has recently been upgraded as well, so go check it out.) 
Kenmore Park tennis courts upgraded

The six tennis courts at Memorial (Kenmore) Park have been repaired and repainted, and the courts have re-opened. The renovations to courts 7 and 8, and the repairs to the pickleball court and the practice wall, are nearing completion. 
Sycamore tree to be removed

Removal of the large sycamore at the corner of Amelia and Princess Anne streets has been scheduled for November 16. Its roots have been growing underneath a section of brick wall and sidewalk on the Princess Anne side of the Stevenson-Doggett House, and were causing the structures to buckle.  
Caroline Street project coming to an end

All connections on the Caroline Street Water Line Project are scheduled to be completed Friday. The waterline will then be in full service, and asphalt restoration will be completed. Complete resurfacing will occur in early spring. 
'Town Talk' highlights holiday promotions 

Danelle Rose, Bill Freehling and Ann Glave were the guests of Ted Schubel's "Town Talk" show on News Talk 1230 AM this week. The topic was upcoming holiday-oriented events downtown.
