Council approves Riverfront Park

City Council voted Tuesday to authorize construction of the park off Sophia Street after a few final tweaks and the solicitation of bids for its construction. Work is expected to begin this coming spring. 

Juan More Taco to open in former Virginia Deli space

The business has been operating as a food truck and recently decided to open a bricks-and-mortar location at 826 Caroline Street.

Council takes first vote on data centers

City Council on Tuesday took the first of two required votes to make data centers an allowed use in Fredericksburg. Data Centers are proposed to be permitted by-right in the I-2 zoning district, and by special-use permit in the remaining commercial, mixed-use, non-residential-planned-development, and industrial zoning districts. 
 
City rolls out Opportunity Zone webpage

We have added an informational page about the federal Opportunity Zone program (in which Fredericksburg is participating) on our Economic Development website.

Public hearings scheduled on stadium

The October 23 City Council meeting will include three public hearings on the proposed multi-purpose stadium in Celebrate Virginia South.

Caroline Street restaurant closes

Legume Kitchen & Bar, which had been at 715 Caroline St., closed Sunday. Owner Raymond Renault said on Facebook that he will " integrate plant-based menu options that are creative, nutritious and most of all delicious to the menu at my other restaurant, La Petite Auberge." The 3,100-square-foot space is now available for rent.

Outdoor classroom created at JMHS

With help from $12,500 in Dominion Energy grants, volunteers this week constructed an outdoor classroom and dug holes for 50 trees at James Monroe High School.
