City announces stadium project, possible relocation of P-Nats

The City of Fredericksburg on Tuesday announced a potential partnership with the Potomac Nationals and the Silver Companies that would lead to a 5,000-seat multi-purpose stadium being built at Celebrate Virginia South and the team relocating from Prince William County. The below website offers an array of details about the proposal. City Council will take up a letter of intent July 10.

Soccer tournament returning to region

More than 15,000 participants and family members are expected to be in the region this weekend for the 2018 U.S. Youth Soccer Region Championships. The event will be at Embrey Mill in Stafford and the VYSA Soccer Fields in Spotsylvania, but many attendees will be staying in and visiting Fredericksburg. The event was held in the region last year as well, and large crowds were reported at area restaurants and stores.

Black selected for prestigious program

The co-owner of FOODE and Mercantile was among 20 fellows selected for The James Beard Foundation's second Women's Entrepreneurial Leadership program, which will take place at Babson College in Massachusetts this September. Black also serves on the Fredericksburg EDA. Congratulations Beth!

Fredericksburg Chamber CEO installed as president of state organization

Susan Spears was recently installed as president of the Virginia Association of Chamber of Commerce Executives (VACCE). She will serve as president for the 2018-19 term. The VACCE represents large and small chambers of commerce from localities throughout the state. Congratulations Susan!

UMW students who transfer from Northern Virginia Community College will have a greater chance of success, thanks to a new agreement between the two schools.

Candy shop coming to William Street

Black Sheep Candy plans to be open this fall at 211 William Street in downtown Fredericksburg. The Fredericksburg Antique Mall was the previous tenant in that space.
