The latest on planned I-95 improvements

Following up on last week's article, below is some additional detail about all the upcoming work planned on Interstate 95 in our region. (During a presentation at an ACES luncheon yesterday at Renato's, VDOT Fredericksburg District Engineer Marcie Parker stated that this will be the most construction work that will have occurred on I-95 since the 1980s. About $1 billion worth of work is planned in the Fredericksburg region, with the work scheduled to be completed by the end of 2023 -- the heaviest volume of work will occur between 2020-2022. VDOT is asking for people's patience!)

Why do you #LOVEFXBG?

More than 5,000 coasters are being distributed to downtown retail, restaurant and service businesses that ask the question: "What do you love most about Fredericksburg?" (example to the right). People are asked to write in their answers, snap a photo and post it to social media using the hashtag #lovefxbg.

Tourism partnership receives grant

The Fredericksburg Regional Tourism Partnership has received a $10,000 marketing grant from the Virginia Tourism Corporation through the "Crush Friday" program.

Chamber honors local business leaders
 
A popcorn store, a physician and a medical transport company were among the winners at the Fredericksburg Regional Chamber of Commerce's annual awards banquet and gala held last week.

Food, beer tours boost tourism

Here is a good column from the FLS about Flavors of Fredericksburg and Fred Vegas Brew Tours, which are both tour companies that combine the City's rich history with its wonderful brewery and dining options.    
ARB to hear about new businesses,  projects

Fredericksburg's Architectural Review Board on February 12 will hear details about a variety of downtown businesses and projects, including the planned Kimman's Co. gift shop at 820 Caroline Street and The Lofts at Frederick Street.   
City, Main Street now accepting proposals for Renwick study

The City of Fredericksburg and Fredericksburg VA Main Street Inc. will accept applications through February 26 from firms interested in undertaking a feasibility study to analyze potential future uses for the Renwick courthouse complex downtown.
