City Council on Tuesday unanimously approved a letter of intent with the Potomac Nationals that could lead to a 5,000-seat multi-purpose stadium being built in Celebrate Virginia South in time for the start of the 2020 season. The team also announced a founding partnership with Mary Washington Healthcare and is working with other local companies on additional major sponsorships and suite reservations.

The September 1 event -- which is being organized by UMW, the City of Fredericksburg and the Fredericksburg EDA -- will feature a 1,000-foot-long water slide on Hanover Street between the Jepson Alumni Executive Center and the Sunken Well Tavern. Think of this as an opportunity to personally present your business to more than 4,000 bright young adults. As they immerse themselves in their academic careers, they will also become part of our community, needing many of the goods and services available in the Fredericksburg area.
