Winter Restaurant Week kicks off tomorrow, runs until Jan. 27

This year's celebration of downtown's culinary delights will feature breakfast, lunch and dinner at a variety of price points. People who dine at five or more participating restaurants can qualify to win $250 worth of downtown gift cards.

Archaeology work under way at Riverfront Park

Dovetail Cultural Resource Group began excavations this week to document the remains of archaeologically sensitive sites on the Sophia Street riverfront land, which will be affected when work on the park begins this year.

Local education leaders see promise in Amazon's HQ2

Germanna Community College President Janet Gullickson and University of Mary Washington President Troy Paino led a summit last week to discuss Amazon's pending arrival and the national capital region's already-urgent demand for graduates trained in cybersecurity and other tech fields.

Parking promotion still under way downtown

Through January 31, downtown Fredericksburg shoppers and diners will be permitted to park for up to four hours in on-street parking spaces that usually have two-hour limits.
