Demo work under way at Liberty Place

The former Safeway building on the block bordered by Douglas, Winchester, Amelia and William streets downtown is being removed to make way for a three-story commercial building and above-ground garage. Several actions needed to facilitate the project will be in front of City Council on Tuesday evening.

Bridal store moving into former museum/bank building

Ava Laurenne Bride announced this week on Facebook that it will be relocating in a couple of months from Caroline Street to 1001 Princess Anne Street across from Hyperion at the corner of William Street.

What sold last month in Fredericksburg?

Metro stations closing for summer

Six Blue- and Yellow-line Metro stations south of Ronald Reagan Washington National Airport will close between May 25 and September 2 for full platform reconstruction and major station improvements. Metro plans an extensive network of free express and local shuttle bus services to help customers get around.

City saves money by reducing energy use

The City of Fredericksburg saved $1.8 million and produced about 25.6 million fewer pounds of greenhouse gases over the past 20 years by reducing electricity and fossil-fuel consumption in its buildings.
