Fredericksburg City Council Appoints Curry Roberts to the Economic Development Authority Board
At its meeting on Tuesday, June 23, Fredericksburg City Council appointed Curry Roberts to the Fredericksburg Economic Development Authority (EDA) Board, bringing decades of economic development expertise and executive leadership experience to the organization.
Roberts is a highly respected leader with more than 35 years of experience spanning the nonprofit, government, and private sectors. Most recently, he served as President of the Fredericksburg Regional Alliance at the University of Mary Washington, where he led regional business attraction and economic growth initiatives for the City of Fredericksburg and the counties of Caroline, Spotsylvania, and Stafford.
Under his leadership, the region secured more than 6,400 new jobs and attracted $117.5 billion in capital investment, including transformative data center projects and the successful recruitment of Amazon Web Services.
His distinguished career also includes serving as Virginia’s Secretary and Deputy Secretary of Economic Development under Governor Gerald L. Baliles, where he oversaw 15 state agencies and contributed to an administration that announced more than 400,000 new jobs across the Commonwealth.
Beyond public service, Roberts has held executive leadership positions as President and CEO of the State Fair of Virginia, Principal with Hirschler Fleischer Consulting, and Managing Director, Chief Operating Officer, and President of several private enterprises. Among his accomplishments was leading the successful turnaround of a $275 million specialty food company.
A graduate of Virginia Tech, Roberts remains actively involved in regional and statewide leadership initiatives and has earned numerous honors recognizing his contributions to economic development and public service.
