Battle of Fredericksburg to be commemorated virtually
The 158th anniversary of the Battle of Fredericksburg will be commemorated virtually in 2020.
The Battle of Fredericksburg occurred December 11-15, 1862. While there will be no live events commemorating the Battle of Fredericksburg this year, Fredericksburg & Spotsylvania National Military Park grounds remain open and available as spaces of reflection and recreation.
Anniversary programming, including activities, articles, and resources about the Battle of Fredericksburg are accessible through the park’s website and social media channels: Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
Video programs will touch on themes including the perspectives of soldiers, civilians and enslaved populations during the battle. Ranger talks will premiere on December 11 and 12, and a recording of the National Park Service’s annual tour, “In the Footsteps of the Irish Brigade,” will premiere on December 13. Follow #Fredericksburg158th on social media to keep up with anniversary content.
Visitors who come to the park are encouraged to follow CDC and local guidance, including traveling in small groups, practicing social distancing, and wearing masks.
