Black named chair of Fredericksburg EDA

Fredericksburg Economic Development Authority logoLocal entrepreneur Beth Black will again chair Fredericksburg’s Economic Development Authority (EDA) in the fiscal year starting July 1.

Black was unanimously appointed as the next EDA chair at the Authority’s June meeting. Other Board positions will be filled by Joel Griffin (Vice Chair), Kevin Hughes (Treasurer), Anita Crossfield (Secretary) and Amy Peregoy (Staff Liaison and Assistant Secretary).

Black owns Foode and 718 Venue with business partner Joy Crump. She has been on the EDA since 2017, and she previously served as chair from July 2019 to June 2021.

“This is a wonderful time to operate a business in Fredericksburg,” Black said. “I hold this position with honor and will continue to work on behalf of our businesses and our community.”

The EDA acts as a catalyst for responsible economic growth that improves Fredericksburg’s quality of life. The EDA receives its funding from annual fees derived from the issuance of bonds for qualified borrowers. Additionally, the EDA advises the City Manager and City Council on fostering economic and industrial development.
