Building Tomorrow’s Workforce: Oberle Academy Expands Career Training
Workforce development starts by giving students opportunities to explore careers and build real-world skills before entering the workforce. The Oberle Academy, in partnership with Germanna Community College, is doing just that with the launch of new Heavy Equipment Operator courses.
Through the partnership, Germanna has loaned Oberle five heavy equipment simulators, allowing students to develop foundational skills on equipment such as excavators, graders, forklifts, and skid steers in a safe learning environment. Students will then have the opportunity to visit Germanna and put those skills to work on actual equipment.
Now in its third year, the partnership also provides Oberle students with Welding and Electrical courses, creating additional pathways into construction and the skilled trades.
Programs like these help strengthen our region’s future workforce by connecting education directly with in-demand careers and giving students the skills, confidence, and experience to take their next step after graduation.
