Downtown Fredericksburg hopping with new projects, businesses

Several new businesses have opened of late in downtown Fredericksburg, where construction activity is also occurring at a healthy pace.
The latest openings include The Pig Pitt barbecue restaurant at 1017 Sophia Street, and Xquizit Coffee Roasters in its new space at 703 Caroline Street. Xquizit had been co-located with Abner B’s Ice Cream, which has now taken over the entire space at 821 Caroline Street.
Those followed on the heels of several additional recent openings — including Fork N’ Biscuit at 715 Caroline Street, Spilt Tea Fredericksburg at 611 Caroline Street, Jus Pop’n at 300 William Street, Apricot Lane Boutique at 1002 Caroline Street, Rappahannock Exchange at 107 William Street, and ARC Interiors at 1011 Caroline Street. In addition, Pye & Co. recently relocated to 905 Caroline Street, and a business called Heart Pieces plans to open Sept. 3 at Pye & Co.’s former space at 809 Caroline Street.
Liberty Place and the adjacent garage. The first tenants are expected to move in to Liberty Place next month.

- Lofts at Frederick Street

- The continuing redevelopment of the former Free Lance-Star property
