Fredtoberfest pours at FredNats Stadium
On Saturday, November 19th, Fredericksburg Nationals Stadium will play host to an exciting new event: the first annual Fredtoberfest, hosted by 6 Bears & a Goat Brewing Company. Fredtoberfest is an authentic German style Oktoberfest during the day, followed by a local concert series at night.
Vendors, food, and breweries will be scattered throughout the stadium, with the bands performing behind the pitcher’s mound starting at 3:30pm. Over 30 breweries will be pouring beer at Fredtoberfest, including local and statewide breweries, as well as one brewery from North Carolina. There will be nine food trucks, as well as vendors to sell treats such as cotton candy and kettle corn.
Mark Faller, owner of 6 Bears & a Goat, has attended Oktoberfest in Germany before, and felt that a similar, community-related event would be a great addition to the Fredericksburg brewery scene. According to Lindsey Heppner, Director of Marketing & Brand Development at 6 Bears & a Goat, they are placing an emphasis on supporting local breweries and businesses.
“Local is what we’re trying to push,” Heppner said.
Fredtoberfest was originally intended to happen in October, but had to be postponed because of the hurricane that swept through Fredericksburg. Heppner is excited for the variety of breweries that will attend Fredtoberfest, from larger breweries such as Hardywood, to smaller, budding breweries with a lot of promise. Heppner said that they intend for Fredtoberfest to be an annual event, and estimate that they will have 5,000 attendees this year alone.
“We just hope that people come out, have fun, and enjoy the day,” she said.
Fredtoberfest is a family event, and will be from 12-10pm. Purchase tickets here.
