Free Fridge & Pantry opens at Downtown Greens
On Saturday, April 9th at 10 a.m., Downtown Greens in Fredericksburg will be having an official ribbon-cutting ceremony for their new endeavor, Free Fridge & Pantry. Downtown Greens focuses on securing food for those in Fredericksburg who are facing food scarcity, and with Free Fridge & Pantry, their mission is strengthening.
Free Fridge & Pantry, located in the Upper Garden of Downtown Greens (206 Charles Street), will provide all-day access to food items for those in the area who require food security. For 24 hours a day, seven days a week, residents of Fredericksburg can donate food anytime that follows their guidelines. Guests are then free to take food from the fridge, providing them with the food they may need.
Downtown Greens believes that Free Fridge & Pantry will aid their mission to “foster community involvement and growth by protecting and nurturing urban greenspace through collaborative environmental stewardship and experimental education.”
Downtown Greens is looking for volunteers, or Free Fridge Heroes, to help with the maintenance of the fridge and pantry. For more information, or to volunteer, email [email protected]. You can follow Downtown Greens on Facebook.
