Great Lives Lecture Series begins at UMW
C.S Lewis. Emmett Till. Ida B. Wells. From January 18th to March 10th, the public and students at the University of Mary Washington can attend the Great Lives Lecture Series highlighting these prominent figures, among many others.
UMW will be hosting the 19th season of the William B. Crawley Great Lives Lecture Series this winter in the Dodd Auditorium of George Washington Hall.
Each of the 16 lectures will feature a speaker detailing the story of an influential person whose life has had a tremendous impact on society. The first lecture on Tuesday, January 18th, will feature speaker Jeff Shesol as he recounts the life of the late pioneering astronaut and U.S. Senator John Glenn. The lectures will cover a variety of great lives, from Sylvia Plath to America’s Pirates.
Due to caution from the COVID-19 pandemic, the lectures scheduled for January will be live-streamed virtually. To attend the subsequent lectures in person, you must present proof of vaccination or a negative COVID test.
