HFFI honors preservation excellence

Historic Fredericksburg Foundation Inc. (HFFI) on Sunday honored several area residents and projects for excellence in historic preservation.

The awards were handed out during HFFI’s annual meeting at Fredericksburg’s historic former Renwick courthouse. Here are the winners:

President’s Exceptional Service Award
Winner: Faculty of the Department of Historic Preservation at the University of Mary Washington
Accepting the Award: Andréa Livi Smith, Ph.D.
Summary: Presented to the faculty of the Department of Historic Preservation for its leadership and initiative in support of preservation through education and volunteering

Special Recognition Award
Winner: Jack Edlund
Accepting the Award: Jack Edlund
Summary: Presented for educating the community on the Old Stone Warehouse and dedicating time to the cause of preservation

Lillian D. Reed Volunteer Award
Winner: Chuck Johnson

Dr. Edward Alvey, Jr. Education Award
Winner: Shiloh Baptist Church (Old Site)

E. Boyd Graves Preservation Award of Excellence
Winner: 718 Venue
