Back before Eagle Village, when we called it “The Park and Shop,” there weren’t a robust number of restaurant options in Fredericksburg. In the 80’s – The Parthenon Restaurant was a staple and a favorite among college students and families. A beautiful Greek-inspired mural adorned the wall, and the amazing smell of Greek and Italian dishes, drifted out the door…and the Pizza was simply amazing! And by the way, it still is!

The City of Fredericksburg’s open spaces are some of the key features of this amazing community. Since the beginning of June, thousands of people have enjoyed access to the City’s parks, trails, playgrounds, athletic fields, and other amenities for many different forms of recreation.
Council Celebrates C.T.E. Collaboration of GCC and Oberle Academy
Tuesday night, the City Council’s Work Session began with a visit to Oberle Academy. The Academy serves special need students from the region and works with 22 area businesses for job placement. The Academy boasts a 98% graduation rate and believes in the power and potential of all students.
FAM promotes Dr. Gaila Sims to Vice President of Programs and Interpretation
Dr. Gaila Sims was recently promoted to Vice President of Programs and Interpretation for the Fredericksburg Area Museum (FAM). She was hired by FAM, to fill a position created in 2022, Curator of African American History. This position is co-funded by the City of Fredericksburg. She is still doing this important work in addition to her new responsibilities at the Museum.
Fredericksburg EDA Launches New Small Business Disaster Grant Program
At a special meeting on Monday, December 9, 2024 the Fredericksburg Economic Development Authority (EDA) voted to create the Small Business Disaster Grant Program.
