‘Operation Tulip Drop’ to return April 10
Bloomia plans to give away 150,000 tulip stems at an April 10 event at James Monroe High School in Fredericksburg.
“Tulip Drop 2.0” will occur from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. that day. Bloomia, a King George County-based company that is the largest East Coast supplier of tulips, conducted the event in the parking lot of the Fredericksburg Visitor Center last spring. This year’s event will include a charitable component.
“The goal was about bringing joy and happiness into everybody’s lives when COVID-19 hit,” said Bloomia General Manager Werner Jansen. “We noticed that a large amount of visitors were willing to donate generously, so this year we are contributing tulips again to receive donations and make both a positive influence as well as a noteworthy impact in the community.”
Bloomia will donate 100 percent of the money raised at this year’s event to Gwyneth’s Gift, a local non-profit devoted to making a difference in the community by raising awareness regarding the education of Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and the use of Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs).
To participate in Tulip Drop this year, you can pre-order here starting March 10, or drive by James Monroe on April 10. There are also options to donate tulips to local first responders, hospitals, teachers and nursing homes. Don’t forget to check out Bloomia’s Facebook and Instagram pages.
