Progress being made on Riverfront Park restrooms

January 31, 2024 | Fredericksburg Business News |

The new restrooms at Fredericksburg’s Riverfront Park are one step closer to reality.

The main structure has now been installed at the park. Utility connections and backfilled concrete are the next steps, and then the facility will be inspected. The City hopes to have it open by mid-February.

After the facility opens, a brick veneer will be installed around the bottom third of the structure, and a standing-seam metal roof will be put in place — as required by Fredericksburg’s Architectural Review Board. The restrooms are expected to remain open during that work.

The restrooms were funded in part by a $1.2 million federal grant the City of Fredericksburg received for upgrades to Riverfront Park. The funding will also cover a performance stage, plans for which are in the works.
