Silver Diner, Chase Bank planned at Central Park entrance

A popular restaurant with 15 locations throughout the Washington area and a national bank branch are planned at the main entrance into Fredericksburg’s Central Park shopping center.

A Silver Diner and a Chase Bank are planned on the site at 2931-2951 Plank Road at the intersection of Plank Road and Carl D. Silver Parkway. The two existing buildings on that site, which formerly housed a Ruby Tuesday and a Pancho Villa restaurant, will be torn down for the project.

The project needs a special exception permit from Fredericksburg City Council to move forward, as the proposed number of parking spaces (186 spaces) exceeds what’s allowed by City code (50 spaces). The developer proposes to reduce the amount of parking currently on the property (233 spaces) by reconfiguring the site and adding landscaping, but the final tally still exceeds the allowed City limit.

The matter will be before the Fredericksburg Planning Commission next week.
