A boutique hotel could be the next use for the 164-year-old downtown building known as Fredericksburg Square.

Van and Deborah Perroy, who have owned Fredericksburg Square at 525 Caroline Street since 1996, are beginning to make plans to sell the facility. One idea they have for a future user is to convert the facility into a boutique hotel by adding guest-room wings to each side of the structure.

Van Perroy and Lee Shadbolt with Commonwealth Architects discussed the history of Fredericksburg Square and the possibility of it becoming a boutique hotel during the Fredericksburg Economic Development and Tourism Department’s quarterly breakfast on Tuesday.

The Perroys have been using Fredericksburg Square as a special event and wedding venue, and before that it was home to the Elks Lodge. You can see Shadbolt’s presentation, which includes renderings of the additions that could convert the facility into a boutique hotel, by clicking here.
