One treat, Mochi Donuts, are a favorite and will be sold exclusively on Friday, Saturday, and Sunday. You ask, what is a Mochi Donut? Mochi donuts are a hybrid of traditional American doughnuts and Japanese mochi. They are made of sweet gluttonous rice which is the primary ingredient for mochi. This mochi rice is gluten-free and has a soft gooey texture. The donuts are fried, the result is a slightly crispy exterior with a surprisingly chewy interior. Mochi donuts are normally found in three main shapes: the traditional donut, donut holes (round balls) and a donut hole ring (small round balls connected to form a ring). They are also typically coated in an assortment of flavored icings or toppings beyond the standard chocolate and vanilla.
A perfect on-the-go eat is Gimbap. Gimbap is made from cooked rice and ingredients such as vegetables, fish, and meats that are rolled in gim—dried sheets of seaweed—and served in bite-sized slices.
Zynda Apothecary is located in Downtown Fredericksburg at 1009 Princess Anne St.
