FXBG Diverse City Spotlight: Louise Jolley & Flykup – Scottish Fancy Pieces
FLYKUP – Scottish Fancy Pieces brings a meaningful piece of Scotland to Fredericksburg, inspired by the “fly cup,” a tradition from Aberdeen of pausing to connect over tea and a sweet treat. At the heart of the shop is this simple idea, slow down, enjoy the moment, and connect with others, reflected in both the experience and the thoughtfully curated selection of handmade goods.
Owner Louise created FLYKUP to fill a gap for authentic, high-quality items that carry story and craftsmanship. Drawing on her Scottish roots and her life in the U.S., she offers a unique perspective that blends cultures while staying true to the origins of each piece. The boutique also features a complementary Fly Cup bar, inviting customers to take part in this tradition and creating a welcoming, inclusive space where conversations naturally unfold.
After more than two decades in Fredericksburg, Louise knew this community, with its strong support for local businesses, was the right place to bring her vision to life. Today, FLYKUP reflects what makes the city special: a place where diverse influences come together, small businesses thrive, and connections turn customers into community.
