La Petite Auberge celebrating 40th anniversary

For the past 40 years, La Petite Auberge has been a well-loved gathering place for authentic French cuisine. From their fan-favorite Steak Frites to their wide variety of fresh seafood and decadent desserts, the William Street restaurant has been keeping Fredericksburg well fed since 1981.

It all began with the original owner, Chef Christian Renault, who moved to the United States after attending hospitality school in Nice, France. La Petite Auberge was the first restaurant he independently opened — and it became a true family-owned affair. He worked in the kitchen with his son, Raymond Renault, before passing the business on to him after retirement. In 2001, Raymond met Jessica for their first date at La Petite Auberge. Twenty years later, now husband and wife, Raymond and Jessica Renault run the restaurant together.

This year, they are celebrating the restaurant’s 40th anniversary with the community by hosting a now-sold-out fundraiser event that will include a night of cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, and live music from Karen Jonas. Proceeds from the event will be donated to Loisann’s Hope House, an organization that seeks to end the cycle of homelessness for children and families in the Rappahannock Region.
